Hello Friends,
Some of you have already heard from me on this idea, and some of you haven't. So here's the long and short of it... Starting this month, we are going to create a list of video journalists and send them out on various assignments around town. The goal will be for each person to shoot a short video (a few minutes long) and screen it together at the end of the month. The task will take you a few hours of shooting and maybe a day or a weekend of editing (no excuses for being too busy). The trick is, your assignment will be created by one of the other participants. So if you want play, you have to bring an assignment to the table. You give me the assignment, we have a random drawing, and then everyone goes out to shoot the story they've been given. Thus, the VJ Grab Bag...
So start looking for an assignment. I've already got a handful and I will be handing out the list at the end of THIS WEEK. If you haven't submitted an assignment already, here's the idea: find something or someone challenging who would make a good story. Look around for the freak you see on your commute, or the weird market or store you have always wanted to learn about. Anything that piques your curiosity would be a good assignment. We want the videos to be funny, goddamn it, so bring your top game. At the end of the month, we are going to show the videos in a small screening together, and then hopefully begin work on a second round of the game.
If you need a tutorial in shooting & editing, I would be very happy to teach you and I am available at all times. I would like to run a small class (maybe on Friday or Sunday), so let me know your schedules and I will come up with a date.
